Is Fastin a "Prescription-grade" Diet Pill or Chocolate Extract?
Fastin is a fat burner made by a company called "Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals" (more on these hustlers later). When you search for diet pills or Fastin, you may be led to believe that Fastin is a "Prescription Grade" diet pill. Don't be fooled. The name Fastin used to actually mean something. It used to be a brand name drug marketed by King Pharmaceuticals until it was pulled from the market. The original Fastin contained Phentermine, which still requires a prescription. The name Fastin still had some value and wasn't being used so King Pharmaceuticals sold the name (and the name only) to Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals. Hi-Tech also markets some other diet pills that supposedly contain "ephedra" but those are not only a total farce but deceptive as well. Deception is a tactic that is commonly used by Hi-Tech in their marketing.
Fastin Ingredients
Fastin contains one proprietary blend of 245 mg plus 100 mg of caffeine per serving.
The proprietary blend is composed of the following -
- Phenylethylamine HCL
- R-Beta-Methylphenylethylamine
- methylphenylethylamine tartrate
- methylsynephrine HCL
- N-Methyl-phenylethylamine HCL
- Synephrine HCL
- Theobromine Anhydrous
- Yohimbine HCL
Do you see any "phentermine" in that list? I don't see anything that isn't already being used in other fat burners. As you can tell, there is quite a lot of variation on phenylethylamine or PEA. Phenylethylamines are related to amphetamines and usually have the effect of increasing extracellular levels of dopamine, which may help alleviate symptoms of depression. As for its application to weight loss, there is no direct connection.
Methylsynephrine, synephrine, and theobromine are all stimulants that can boost your metabolism to help you burn more calories. Yohimbe, though known as an aphrodisiac and often included in diet supplements, has little application to weight loss.
Who Makes Fastin?
As mentioned earlier, the new Fastin is made by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals. I don't know why they use "Pharmaceuticals" in there name as there is nothing pharmaceutical about their diet supplements. You can read a bit more about Hi-Tech over at the Department of Justice website, where they were indicted for a "Generic Pill Fraud Scheme". It is good reading. http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/wheatIndict.htm.
In searching the internet, I found out a little more in regards to this case.
United States Attorney David E. Nahmias said of the pleas,
“These defendants set up an offshore manufacturing facility where, in unsanitary conditions, they reproduced leading pharmaceutical products for importation into the United States, all without FDA approval or licensing from the rightful patent holders. Their motive in flouting the law, violating patents and exposing their customers to unknown health risks was greed, pure and simple. I commend the FDA and the DEA for their thorough investigation in this case. The Department of Justice and these agencies will continue to work hard to protect American consumers from such fraudsters.”
FDA Office of Criminal Investigations Special Agent In Charge David Bourne said,
“As in this conviction, the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations actively pursues those who deceive the public by manufacturing and selling unapproved and unregulated medications which may pose risks to the health of consumers. We are committed to investigating and preventing those who use trickery and deceit to illegally and unscrupulously sell medications over the internet at the expense of the public health.”
Unsanitary conditions, un-regulated, risks to health of consumers. Really makes you want to go out and buy Fastin.
Fastin Update
This is too bad - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28983195/ - here is a 'teaser':
"Diet supplement king gets 50 months in prison
Writing the final chapter in a strange criminal saga, a federal judge has sentenced the president of a Georgia company that manufactures popular lines of herbal dietary supplements to 50 months in prison for illegally selling knockoff prescription drugs over the Internet.
U.S. District Judge Jack T. Camp also fined Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals CEO Jared Wheat $50,000 and ordered him, the company and other individual defendants to forfeit $3 million in proceeds from the scheme." Read more here.
Fastin Conclusion
The bottom line with Fastin is that it is misleading in its use of the name formerly used for phentermine. The website plays that up as much as possible. The proprietary blend here is a measly 245 mg and could not contain enough of the right ingredients to make a difference. Worst of all, it offers itself either as a free trial/auto-ship scam or for a ridiculous $90 per bottle. This is a joke. Stay away from Fastin.

It doesn't make me feel jittery or anything at all, and it doesnt seem to make my heart beat any faster when I work out.
And no, I do not work for hi tech pharmaceuticals. haha.
I used FASTIN everyday for just over 2 weeks I stopped when I noticed a problem with my toes and feet they started to hurt and become numb and tingly I seem to be retaining water ??? "STRANGE" I figured it must be the FASTIN because it was the only thing new that I have done. I have since then discontinued using it and have been drinking cranberry juice for a week now the tingling, aching and soreness is still there in my feet and toes, it seems like it is slowly going away.
